Tramp Magazine: Hello Melissa, can you tell us what it is you do?

Melissa: I own an Urban Retreat at Home franchise.

Urban Retreat is the award winning luxury beauty spa and salon within Harrods. The new ‘at Home’ service is designed to extend the unique Urban Retreat experience to everyone.



We bring the fabulous experience direct to our clients within their home, office or even hotel. We offer massage, facials, waxing and so many more beauty services using exclusive brands.

Tramp Magazine: What a brilliant idea, where can customers get this service?

Melissa: My franchise is based in Mayfair but I can travel anywhere, not just within London and Essex where I live, but throughout the UK. Urban Retreat are expanding this service nationally and we go where the clients need us, for everyday needs, weddings and even corporate events.

Tramp Magazine: What is your favourite bit of the job?

Melissa: I love owning my own business, and the best bit has got to be doing something I love everyday.

Tramp Magazine: What are your top five beauty products?

It’s difficult to choose! But if I have to…

Melissa: Tuscany in Loughton is good for lunch or for a special dinner I like Gilgamesh in Camden.

Tramp Magazine: And to wet your whistle?

Melissa: I adore a cocktail and to try new places. I like somewhere intimate but fun where we can have drinks then a gorgeous dinner.

Tramp Magazine: With the New Year on the Horizon what’s next for you?

Melissa: We have recently finished doing Britain and Irelands Next Top Model, and some corporate events in London. Vogue magazine is one of my favourite corporate destinations. For me 2012 will mean building my corporate clients as well as expanding my personal at Home business.

Tramp Magazine: Last question, what would you do if you weren’t doing this?

Melissa: Actually I would probably choose to work in the Urban Retreat HQ. But to be honest why would I be doing anything else?
